In einer Befragung von 1.000 Engländern wurde im Rahmen einer Studie festgestellt, dass der Einsatz eines BlackBerry 10 Arbeitstage pro Jahr schafft.

Britons’ refusal to turn off their Blackberrys or mobile phones means they are effectively working an extra 10 days a year, a survey suggests.

According to research millions of Brits find it impossible to switch off and keep their work devices on even when they’re not in the office.

The study found that a fifth of UK workers keep their phones on over the weekend.

But even more – 24 per cent – complain they feel stressed because they are always on call.

Men find it the hardest to switch off with only a third turning off their phones and BlackBerrys when they leave the office, compared to over half of women.

Of those that do switch off, 22 per cent still can’t resist having a peak at their work emails over the weekend.

Over 1,000 office workers were quizzed by business loyalty programme Nectar Business to reveal the impact of technology on their working lives.

Almost two thirds said they believe it helps them work quickly and efficiently while 71 per cent said email was the best way to contact a colleague.

The study also discovered that the ‘virtual colleague’ is on the increase with 79 per cent admitting they’ve only met half the people they regularly do business with.
